ABOUT THE MSCA

The Maremma Sheepdog Club of America was founded on August 15, 1988, and is the national breed club of the Maremma Sheepdog.

The purpose of the MSCA is to encourage and promote soundness in the breeding of purebred Maremma Sheepdogs and to do all possible to bring the Maremma's natural qualities to perfection by urging members and breeders to accept the Standard of the Breed as approved by the MSCA.

The MSCA is dedicated to do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed as a working livestock guardian dog, and to preserve the natural instinct and qualities developed over thousands of years.

The Maremma Sheepdog Club of America, Inc is the only national registry organization of purebred Maremmas in North America and has established and maintained breeding records and bloodlines.
Mission of the MSCA:
  1. Maintain and encourage communication among the membership by publishing a club newsletter, the Maremma Guardian, as well as providing an online member breeder list and annual club meeting.
  2. Protect and preserve the breeding of purebred Maremma Sheepdogs by encouraging breeders to uphold the MSCA Code of Ethics.
  3. Sponsor educational information and programs, and livestock guardian dog information on the use of the Maremma Sheepdog successfully as a viable solution against predation.
  4. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date registry for the Maremma Sheepdog.
  5. The MSCA also coordinates a national network of rescue volunteers who get Maremma Sheepdogs out of rescue, into foster, and then into new homes.
